How To Achieve Your Dreams in Life By Having a Clear Vision

Personal Vision

It is human nature to dream of having more, going further and making a difference in the world. Most of us can’t help but wonder what’s next, even when we are doing well for ourselves.

However, the difference between the people who know how to achieve their dreams in life and those who want something more but never make any changes is having a truly clear vision.

If you want more out of life than the standard nine to five but you’re not sure exactly what will make you happy, you may be struggling to get clear on your vision.

You won’t get far without clarity so here are a few simple questions to ask yourself. These can help as a first step:

  • What gets you out of bed each morning?
  • Why do you do what you do?
  • What drives you and inspires you in your life?

Take a minute to think about the answers to these questions.

My vision

I’ve found my answers to these questions and thus my vision for my life has changed over time. Now I’m married, something I am really focused on is getting to a stage where I am able to spend quality time with my future children.

Knowing I want to avoid relying on childcare every day so I can be present for my kids is a huge motivator to run my business well and be successful. Doing so will allow me to be around after school and be an amazing parent (just like my own Mum and Dad).

Another part of my own personal vision is to help people in war-torn and developing nations to become entrepreneurs. I’m skilled in managing projects and people, and I’m planning on putting these abilities to use to help others in the future.

How to achieve your dreams in life: Creating your vision

But let’s focus on you!

If you’re one of those people who know they are destined for something more and feel determined to do something about it, believe it or not, you are rare! Most people have a vague idea of their goals but they never really take action.

Now that you have had a think about what makes you get out of bed each day and what inspires you, it’s time to dig a little deeper. To help you start your journey to a more successful life today, let’s get total clarity on your vision.

Grab a pen and some paper and jot down what comes to mind when you read through the following questions. You may find you need to take a walk or sit somewhere comfortable while you carefully consider the answers.

If this exercise takes you more than five minutes, don’t worry! This is the rest of your life we’re talking about. As you work through, be as clear and specific about your vision and ideas as possible.

Ok, here we go:

  • Where are you going, long term?
  • Where would you love to be in ten years?
  • What would you love your life to look like?
  • What does ‘home’ mean to you?
  • If you could have any life, what would it be?
  • What would you love your financial life to look like?

Those are some big questions! But your vision is important. If you can’t work out what you want, how can the Universe send it your way?

Once you have answered the questions, you’ll be able to write down several bullet points covering your vision. This may include:

  • Work a 20 hour week
  • Drive a brand new car
  • Donate $1 million to charity
  • Own a company with 20 employees

Don’t forget that your personal vision doesn’t have to be set in stone. It can change as you evolve and grow. But you need to have something to work towards or absolutely nothing will happen.

With your vision clear, you’re on a better track to taking the right steps and finding out once and for all how to achieve your dreams in life.
